Lars played by Ryan Gosling is a lonely man who for some reason has a fear of physical contact and affection from others. One day a co-worker shows him a website where you can order a realistic doll and Lars soon has a new companion that he refuses to admit is not real. His family and friends go along with him as he attempts to put his life back together. I actually enjoyed this movie. Even though it was very different it was sad and a little funny.
