Lust, Caution

During WWII the Chinese are resistant to the Japanese occupation of China and one group of college theater students decide they are going to do something about it. They decide one of the girls Wong Chia Chi is going to pose as fictitious Mr. Mak's wife and try and lure Mr. Yee (a "traitor") into an affair so the troupe can kill him. As time goes on the charade gets more and more complicated and difficult to play. This was a really good film that is worth watching.

Letters From Iwo Jima

This movie tells the store of the World War II battle of Iwo Jima from the Japanese perspective, and shares letters that were found long after the soldiers were dead. You spend time with the Japanese soldiers who knowing they were fighting an impossible battle, dug trenches and caves to give them the best advantage possible. This is a great movie and your heart will break as you watch the young soldiers fight even though they know they are far outnumbered and will most likely all die. As a person who is not a historian I really felt educated by this film.

Pan's Labyrinth

This is an Oscar Winning Spanish film about Ofelia, a young girl who along with her pregnant mother moves in with her new step-father and begins to use her imagination to escape the real world nightmare she is living. In her Labyrinth she meets up with a magical faun who gives her 3 tasks to complete in order to save her mother. This is a really good movie and the effects are fantastic.

Saint Ralph

This is a very cute story about a 14-year old boy who is dealing with a very ill mother and is looking for a miracle to save her. After being punished by being required to join the cross country team, he decides he is going to win the Boston marathon for his miracle. Adam Butcher is so likeable as Ralph that you are really rooting for him. This movie will make you laugh and cry, and is really worth watching.
