Kung Fu Panda 2

Jack Black is back as Po The Dragon Warrior whose mission in this second Kung Fu Panda is to save Kung Fu against the evil Lord Shen. In order to be successful he must first achieve the next level of his training and find inner peace. Once again the animation is superb and all the main characters return making this a great sequel enjoyable for the whole family.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

This fourth installment of the Pirates movies puts Captain Jack Sparrow and a lot of the other villains on the quest for the Fountain of Youth. Along the way there are of course various treacherous obstacles to overcome and only one person will actually be able to drink from the fountain so the battle is to see who that person will be. I don't know if I am just getting tired of the series or what but I found myself much more interested in what was happening with the mermaid and Philip than I was the Pirates...maybe I just missed Orlando and Kiera.

Thor

I have to admit I am kind of a sucker for any type of "super hero" movie and this one surprisingly did not disappoint. The special effects were much better than I anticipated and Chris Hemsworth was the perfect choice for the hammer wielding hero. Anthony Hopkins and Tom Hiddleston were also great in their roles of Thor's father and brother. I would have loved to see this film in 3D, but still enjoyed it immensely.

G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra

This is your every day good guys vs. bad guys movie that has been done a million times. Based on your popular children's toy, you get to know the "Joe's" or our modern day heroes fighting to protect the world from all evil. The movie does have your typical plot centered on the bad guy having some weapons that will destroy the world and the good guys have to stop him and save the day. That being said there are some pretty cool gadgets and fight scenes and lots of eye candy, so if you don't expect too much you might enjoy the action.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

All your favorite characters are back in this Transformers sequel that is even more action packed than the first. When a whole new group of bad guys try to once again take over Earth, Optimus Prime and his special group of enforcers again battle to protect the human race. Short on plot, but action junkies will still enjoy it.

Race to Witch Mountain

Dwayne Johnson plays Jack Bruno a bored cabby who has a couple of strange kids show up in his cab one morning that starts him on a journey of a lifetime. A race begins to see if he can get these aliens/children to their spaceship before the government or the bad buy get them. A mediocre movie, but kids will probably enjoy it.

Eagle Eye

Shia Labeouf stars in this action-packed movie about a boy who lives a fairly boring life until one day he comes back to his apartment to see if filled with random stuff and a phone call from a female voice telling him what to do. Along the way he meets up with a single mom being directed by the same voice. Not the best movie but if you are a fan of Labeouf you will still enjoy watching it.

Appaloosa

Ed Harris plays Virgil Cole, an infamous vicious lawmen that was hired to bring order to towns that could pay to hire him. When he and his sidekick get hired by the folks of Appaloosa he has to go up against an evil rancher named Bragg who is awaiting trial for murdering the previous Marshal. At the same time he falls for the new "lady" in town played by Renee Zellweger.

City of Ember

This is the story of a hidden city built to try and protect the human race and keep it alive from a worldwide disaster. As time goes on the Mayor is letting the city rot and so when a young girl discovers some old papers about a way out a quest begins to see if the instructions work. Unfortunately the Mayor doesn't want to lose his city so they must try to avoid him at the same time. This was a very cute movie that's uniqueness was enjoyable.

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor

Brendan Fraser returns in the next Mummy only this time his son is the one to make a great discovery when he finds the tomb of an ancient Emperor. Of course it wouldn't be a Mummy movie unless the dead guys come back to life and the O'Connell's have to battle them to save the world. The battle comes to a head in China and once again it is good vs. evil. I wasn't crazy about the switch of female leads and really the only redeeming actors in this film are Michelle Yeoh and Isabella Leong.

Transporter 3

Frank Martin (Jason Statham) is called on again for another death defying transportation job only this time the bad guys don't really give him a choice about doing the job. Of course along the way they realize the hard way that Frank Martin doesn't like being told what to do. The action and fighting sequences are always far fetched but lots of fun for us action junkies to watch.

The Dark Knight

Christian Bale is back as Batman in this next installment of the popular series. Along with Bale, Heath Ledger stars as The Joker who plays an amazingly evil bad guy determined to bring mayhem to Gotham. Aaron Eckhart, and Maggie Gyllenhaal round out this star studded cast as Harvey Dent and Rachel Dawes. Probably the best Batman yet and that might be in part due to the amazing Oscar-winning performance by Ledger.

Tropic Thunder

Ben Stiller, Jack Black, and Robert Downey Jr. all star in this comedy about three actors who start out making a war movie, and unknowingly end up in a real war. Very politically incorrect in much of the dialogue but comedy lovers will think this movie is hilarious. One of those movies I would describe as "dumb but funny".

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

After waiting a year the four Pevensie children are finally called on again to return to Narnia. This time their task is to help Prince Caspian claim his spot on the thrown and return Narnia and all who live there to the previous glory. I found this one as enjoyable as the first and look forward to the third.

Journey to the Center of the Earth

In this movie Brendan Fraser plays a scientist who just cannot accept his brother's death, so when he finds some cryptic notes one of his brother's books he takes off on a journey to find the truth. I'm sure this was not an easy novel to make into a movie and really it was not well done, but some will find it entertaining.

Iron Man

When genius weapons building billionaire Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) gets held hostage by an evil terrorist organization the only way to escape is by building a "superhero" suit. Once he gets home he gives up weapons building and goes to work perfecting his new invention so that he can use it to fight crime.

The Forbidden Kingdom

Jackie Chan and Jet Li team up in this martial arts movie about a young kid who is accidentally transported into the past with a magical staff belonging to the Monkey King. The 2 martial arts legends have to train Jason and help him on his quest to return the staff and go home. A fun and enjoyable movie worth the watch.

Nim's Island

Abigail Breslin plays Nim, an 11-year old girl who lives on a beautiful private island with her scientist father (Gerard Butler). She loves to play with her animal friends and read the Alex Rover adventure stories the supply ships bring. When one day her father gets lost in a freak storm the only person Nim can think to contact is Alex Rover played by Jodie Foster. This movie was very different than what I was expecting but actually pretty good. The star filled cast probably saved the day.
