Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

This fourth installment of the Pirates movies puts Captain Jack Sparrow and a lot of the other villains on the quest for the Fountain of Youth. Along the way there are of course various treacherous obstacles to overcome and only one person will actually be able to drink from the fountain so the battle is to see who that person will be. I don't know if I am just getting tired of the series or what but I found myself much more interested in what was happening with the mermaid and Philip than I was the Pirates...maybe I just missed Orlando and Kiera.

Something Borrowed

This is your typical plot about the "nice girl" (Ginnifer Goodwin) who is used to coming in second to her beautiful blond best friend (Kate Hudson) and is in love with said friend's fiancee and throughout the movie is sadly helping plan the wedding as she secretly pines for the fiancee. I have to admit that this is one of those movies that I was really excited to see but by the end I wasn't sure if I really like any of the characters except the guy best friend played by John Krasinksi...so I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it.

Burlesque

I love nothing more than a good musical and this movie is no exception. Christina Aguilera's amazing voice overshadows any acting flaws she has and the wonderful choreography is a joy to watch. Add in the gorgeous Cam Gigandet and Eric Dane along with the amazing acting ability of Stanley Tucci (who has great on screen chemistry with Cher) and you have a fun chick flick from start to finish.

When in Rome

Beth (Kristen Bell) is ready for love and what better place to find it than Rome? During her sister's wedding she comes across a fountain of love and decides she is going to take some coins from it. When all sorts of men unexpectedly start falling in love with her at the same time she begins a budding new romance she has to question... is it real or is it the fountain? I found this light romantic comedy pretty funny and enjoyed the chemistry between Bell and Josh Duhamel.

Leap Year

Amy Adams stars in this romantic comedy about a girl who is sick of waiting for her boyfriend to propose so decides it is time to take matters into her own hands. She decides to surprise her boyfriend in Ireland and follow the local tradition than a woman can propose to a man during leap year day. Of course the journey does not go as planned and she has to enlist the help of Declan (Matthew Goode) who makes her start questioning how she wants the journey to end. A corny but enjoyable chick flick taking place in gorgeous Ireland.

Letters to Juliet

I have to admit if you watched the previews for this movie than you pretty much know the whole story. A fairly common storyline where girl is engaged to the wrong guy meets Mr. Wonderful, and of course they fall in love and live happily ever after. I have to admit that I was much more interested in the Grandmother's love story than the young kids, but of course how can you not be when it involves Vanessa Redgrave. Overall a romantic-comedy that is extremely predictable but enjoyable. I am a sucker for a cheesy love story with a happy ending and now of course I would love to visit Verona, Italy.

My Life in Ruins

Nia Vardalos stars in this romantic comedy about a history professor who is currently working as a Greek tour guide and hating every minute of it. When she gets a special group of tourists she realizes that she has lost her kefi (mojo) and she wants to get it back. A cute movie worth watching...of course it made me want to travel to Greece.

Dakota Skye

Teen Dakota Skye has the ability to hear nothing but the truth when people talk to her. As she gets older she becomes more and more pessimistic towards life. When her boyfriends best friends comes to town and shows her that not everyone lies all the time her outlook begins to change. A very realistic movie about the lies and half truths people tell. I really enjoyed this movie.

New In Town

When Lucy (Renee Zellweger) volunteers to take a temporary move to Minnesota to re-structure company factory she never bargained on the total culture shock it would be. Not only are the employees odd and belligerent, but she comes to really like them and the union guy representing them. Kind of a cheesy move with horrible Minnesota accents, but many will like it.

Confessions of a Shopaholic

Based on the best selling books, this comedy is about a serious shopaholic who is trying desperately to get a job with a glamorous fashion magazine, but unfortunately the closest she can come is a financial magazine in the same building. As she tries to get noticed by the other magazine she has to deceive her cute boss and try to control her spending. This was a very cute and funny movie worth watching.

Beverly Hills Chihuahua

When a very spoiled Chihuahua named Chloe gets kidnapped and taken to the Mexican dog fights her dog sitter, landscaper, and landscaper's dog must search for her. At the same time Chloe is trying to make her way home with the help of a retired police dog Delgado. This is a very funny and cute movie that is enjoyment for the whole family.

He's Just Not That Into You

This movie is packed with stars and focuses on the idea that girls and guys see relationships in a completely different way. The main character Gigi is constantly trying to read more into a guy's words and actions than are actually there until a friendly bartender schools her in the correct way to see guys. At the same time you follow several other characters and their various relationships. I loved this movie and found it to be fun in its harsh honesty.

Paul Blart: Mall Cop

Kevin James is Paul Blart, mall security officer who lives with his mom and desperately wants to get the girl and become a real cop. When his love interest and shopping mall is taken hostage by bad guys it is up to Paul to save the day. Kevin James is always fun to watch and this movie is no exception. A clean family movie.

Vicky Cristina Barcelona

When two young American girls decide to spend the summer in Catalonia they never expect to have an adventure quite like they end up having when they meet artist Juan Antonio (Javier Bardem). Between the seduction attempts and his crazy ex-wife played by Penelope Cruz, Juan definitely gives them a summer to remember. In typical Woody Allen style this is a different movie that you are not really sure what you thought at the end of it.

High School Musical 3: Senior Year

All the cast in back in this next High School Musical about their senior year and the tough decisions they have to make about their future. Troy is struggling on whether to go to college where his dad wants him to go and play basketball or whether to try and find somewhere closer to Gabriella and pursue theater. This is a great family movie and I enjoy the fact that through the popularity of this series and others, musicals are coming back to life.

Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist

When Nick (Michael Cera) gets dumped by his shallow girlfriend his friends decide to help him get over her by pairing him up with Norah (Kat Dennings). As they join forces on a crazy search to find a missing drunk girl and a hidden concert they find a lot more about each other. This was a very cute and enjoyable movie. Both leading actors did a great job keeping the movie sweet and fun to watch that along with some great music make this a must see.

27 Dresses

Katherine Heigl stars in this romantic comedy about a girl who is so wrapped up in everyone else's relationships that she isn't living her own life. When her beautiful sister comes into town and instantly goes after her secret "love" her perfect life starts to fall apart. Kind of a corny movie, but since I am a fan of Heigl I still enjoyed it.

Smart People

Dennis Quaid plays Lawrence a widowed professor who is going through the motions but not really living his life. His daughter (Ellen Page) is trying to be just like him, but desperate for his attention at the same time. When his constantly broke brother shows up, all of their lives get shaken up. A drama/comedy that to me was just strange but kind of funny.

My Mom's New Boyfriend

Colin Hanks plays Henry a FBI agent who comes home to visit his mom (Meg Ryan) and introduce her to his fiance (Selma Blair) only to find his mom has completely changed in his absence. When he left she was overweight and unhappy and when he returns she is thin, beautiful, and dating. When she begins dating Tommy (Antonio Banderas) things get interesting. Actually I thought this movie was really going to be bad, but I ended up enjoying it.

Step Up 2 The Streets

Similar to Step Up this story is about Andie a girl from the streets who ends up in a prestigious dance school and struggles to fit in. She teams up with a group from the school to perform in a street dance battle. Not as good as the first, but still has some great moves.
