Fighting

Channing Tatum and Terrance Howard start is this movie about a street kid who is talked into joining an underground fighting circuit. Even though he is not the best fighter, his determination helps him succeed. When he is asked to throw a fight he has to decide what is more important his pride or the money. There wasn't as much fighting as I expected and it was a little slow, but as a fan of Howard and Tatum I enjoyed the movie.

Dragonball Evolution

Justin Chatwin is a martial arts student who is charged with trying to collect all of the magical dragonballs and save the world. Of course the goal is to find the dragonballs before the bad guys do. This is another attempt to turn a manga book into a movie and unfortunately this was not a good attempt.

Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li

Based on the characters in the popular Street Fighter video game this movie focuses on a young girl who turn to crime fighting after witness her fathers kidnapping. Years later she gets a mysterious note encouraging her to go to Bangkok to fulfill her destiny. If you like cheesy kung fu movies you might like this, but the acting left a lot to be desired.

Transporter 3

Frank Martin (Jason Statham) is called on again for another death defying transportation job only this time the bad guys don't really give him a choice about doing the job. Of course along the way they realize the hard way that Frank Martin doesn't like being told what to do. The action and fighting sequences are always far fetched but lots of fun for us action junkies to watch.

The Forbidden Kingdom

Jackie Chan and Jet Li team up in this martial arts movie about a young kid who is accidentally transported into the past with a magical staff belonging to the Monkey King. The 2 martial arts legends have to train Jason and help him on his quest to return the staff and go home. A fun and enjoyable movie worth the watch.

Kung Fu Panda

Jack Black is the voice of Po, a clumsy panda bear obsessed with Kung Fu. When he goes to watch the ceremony of the choosing of the Dragon Warrior and accidentally lands in the middle of it he is surprised to find he is the chosen one. Master Shifu reluctantly begins his training so that he can battle the evil Tai Lung. This movie is hilarious and great for all ages. I think it is one of the best animated movies since Cars.

Never Back Down

After his father's death Jake (Sean Faris) moves to a new school and quickly goes from being the tough kid to getting the tar beat out of him by the local superstar of underground mixed-martial arts. He decides to study the art with a local master played by Djimon Hounsou and in the process deals with some of his anger over his father's death. If you like martial arts and fight scenes you will enjoy this movie, because after all who watches movies like this for the plot anyway?

Rush Hour 3

Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker are back for another Rush Hour and this time they are going up against a strong Chinese Triad group. Their journey takes them to Paris where one of the main villains is someone close to Lee. I found this kind of boring and not really very funny. I have to admit I kept hoping Tucker's character would get shot.

DOA

Based on the video game, DOA is about a martial arts tournament held on a remote island. Of course the tournament leader played by Eric Roberts has some behind the scenes stuff going on that make the plot more interesting. Some of the contestants unite to get to the bottom of his evil plans and become friends in the process. I have to admit that I liked this movie. I always like Devon Aoki and I even thought Jaime Pressly was pretty good in this role.
